What does Cosmelan® Peel do?
Cosmelan® is the top globally recognised depigmentation treatment for effectively and safely treating spots.
Cosmelan® is a highly effective depigmentation treatment to diminish skin blemishes and hyperpigmentation. Targeting dark spots, melasma, and various skin discolourations, this professional-grade solution reveals a brighter, more even-toned complexion. The multi-step process entails an in-clinic application paired with a customised at-home maintenance regimen.
Why does Cosmelan® offer more benefits than other chemical peels?
A standard peeling treatment acts on the surface of the skin by chemically eliminating the top layers and contributing to its renewal. Chemical peels deliver high concentrations of exfoliating acids to the skin, brightening the complexion, evening skin tone, and improving the appearance of spots and wrinkles. For patients with dark spots, a peel can help fade them, but the blemish will return if the underlying mechanisms are not addressed.
The Cosmelan® method visibly removes and attenuates spots (similar to a peel), but most importantly, it provides a regulating action as it corrects the overproduction of pigmentation to prevent the spots' reappearance. While other peeling treatments act on the surface of the problem, Cosmelan® treatment targets the origin.
How does it work?
This treatment solution consists of 4 phases that turn it into a protocol for the elimination and control of the spots rather than a one-time remedy.
These steps are:
- Phase 1: Intense Depigmentation
- Phase 2: Home Protocol - Depigmentation
- Phase 3: Home Protocol - Regulation
- Phase 4: Home Protocol - Control
Phase 1: Intense Depigmentation
Our somatologist performs the initial intensive depigmentation treatment in a single session at the clinic. The mask must stay on the skin for 8-12 hours to effectively target the problematic areas. This process removes melanin deposits and promotes skin renewal.
Home Protocols - Phases 2-4: Depigmentation, Regulation and Control
The home protocol is used after the initial mask treatment and forms part of the depigmentation process, as well as a method to prevent the reappearance of spots. The protocol includes:
- Cosmelan 2: facial cream for removing and/or reducing spots of melanin origin.
- Melan Recovery: balm with calming and healing effects.
- Melan 130 Pigment Control: very high solar protection and colour.
How long is the Home Protocol treatment?
This treatment is typically 6-9 months after the initial treatment.
The somatologist will confirm the treatment plan during the initial consultation and follow-up appointments.
What is included in the cost of the treatment?
Our Cosmelan® package includes all your pre- and post-procedure products, your prepping treatments and the Cosmelan® Home protocol treatment. This is to ensure you get the best results.
Note that a consultation is required before starting this treatment plan.
